Resistoflex developed its R-Series Expansion Joints 50 years ago, providing a revolutionary solution to movement, misalignment and vibration problems - especially in corrosive environments.
R-Series joints are easy to distinguish from their E-Series counterparts because of their limit bolts. Limit bolts provide restriction to lateral misalignment at installation. They also provide resistance to rotational forces which can lead to joint failure. They are a good visual indicator to movement, and with the right material choice, provide long life in coastal, marine, and chlorine rich environments.
Reinforcing rings are clearly visible on R-Series joints, though they are also used on E-Series joints. Only Resistoflex uses NITRONIC 50, an austenitic stainless alloy with the corrosion resistance of MONEL and twice the yield strength of 316 stainless steel.
Over the years, we've made process and material improvements to the basic R-Series design. From the beginning, when we developed them for the U.S. Air Force, resistoflex joints have been renowned for their remarkable flex-life - a performance trait that still sets them apart today.
